Spring is here and inspirational muses for me are colourful florals. These creations have a twist that builds from an abstract background. Each piece begins with an underpainting of acrylics to spray paints and finishes with buttery oils. I'll be posting more over the weeks of the process and paintings ready for their forever homes.
Enjoy and a special thank you to the Milan Institute of Art.

Flowers naturally turn towards the light and when they do their beauty comes into full bloom. The first painting of a new series

The beauty of painting flowers is the essence of why we are attracted to certain blooms. Colour has a lot to do with my inspiration and if you're drawn to certain florals there may be a deeper significance for you too. These orange tulips have a duo meaning that comes from the flower essence. Tulips can signify gratitude often in the form of people who make us happy. As Marcel Proust once said “they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.” If it was the orange that caught your eye, it’s a colour that propels us to act. Like Spring it’s a time to seek out new activities, especially those we will find enjoyable. It’s hue also invites the energy and time to pursue creative activities. Now doesn’t that put a spring into your step?

Irresistible Blooms
24x30" | $1,800 CDN
These magenta chrysanthemums are some of many different varieties to be admired. In the language of flowers this bouquet symbolizes bold and irresistible love. All chrysanthemums represent a long and happy life and for a little icing on top you’ll notice blueberries appear in this painting which symbolize good luck. Now don’t you find the combination simply irresistible?
